The Rescue! Japanese & Oriental Beetle Trap was developped by scientists to use natural and floral sexual attractants so that both male and female beetles are drawn to the trap. The beetles fly onto the large pannels and are stunned by the impact. They then fall into the bag provided. <\/p>\n
Flight and feeding habits of Japanese beetles. Beetles prefer plants and ripe fruit that are directly exposed to sunlight. They assemble in the plants\u2019 upper foliage and then make their way down gradually. The particular odour released by beetles when they feed attracts other beetles. Beetles are especially active on warm and sunny days between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., or when temperatures range from 28-35\u00b0C.
\nWhen humidity levels are below 60%, Japanese beetles tend to fly less, preferring to feed on site. Adults fly and feed at night. They eat flower petals, notably from daisies, roses and petunias. Beetle larvae feed directly on the roots of grass and decorative plants, which makes them particularly destructive.
